Blockbuster Express experience
I did something new today. I rented a DVD in New York! Come to think of it, this is my first time renting a DVD. I couldn’t believe that I never rented a DVD in my life before this, not even in Malaysia.
Anyway, I never thought that DVD rental is cheap and convenient in the Big Apple. It’s only $1 per DVD per day from Blockbuster Express kiosk. There are many kiosks available in New York City. The kiosk that I visited is located inside a 24 hours Duade Reade pharmacy store just a few blocks away from my place.
Since I have a promotional code, I get to rent a DVD for free. So I just select the movie I want, key in the promo code, swipe my credit card and then wait for the machine to cough out a DVD casing with the DVD inside of course. Once I’m done watching the movie, I just return the DVD to any Blockbuster Express kiosk the next day before 9pm, or else I will be charged a dollar.
Blockbuster update their movie catalog every week. So there’s always a variety of latest movies to choose from, especially those that are not shown in Malaysian cinema.
I just did an experiment. I managed to copy out The Book of Eli movie from the DVD for my own keeping. In other words, I get a free original movie today!
