Shrek Forever After movie review
Thursday, May 20th, 2010Yay, got back from another movie premiere today. This time it’s the anticipated animation film, Shrek Forever After. Thanks to Jeff for the invitation! Can you believe it that Shrek is finally over and done with after sharing much joy with us since a decade ago? Read on to find out what I think about this finale film.
Shrek Forever After is the 4th and a sequel to the Shrek movies. After challenging the evil dragon, rescue a beautiful princess and save your in-laws’ kingdom, what more could a giant orge ask for? Well, if you are Shrek, you suddenly have trouble dealing with daily routine in the family with the babies and all. Rather than scaring the villagers away like he was before, a reluctant Shrek agrees to sign autograph on a pitch fork to the delight of his fan.
What happens to this giant’s roar? Yearning for the days when he felt like a real ogre, Shrek was duped into signing an agreement with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate versions of Far Far Away, where the giants were hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona had never met before. Now, it’s up to Shrek to undo what he did with the help of his friends to save, restore the world and his one true love.
This show gave me some laughs. I would think that most of the funny scenes have already been shown in the movie trailer. Most of the old characters are back, with Rumpelstiltskin being introduced as the villain. This movie is also guest starring Pied Piper! With the pipe in his mouth blowing music, you can expect some funny things to happen. Look out for the orge dancing moments.
Oh, did I mention about Fiona? Well, she’s definitely different, character wise, in the alternate universe. The most memorable character in this show for me is Puss in Boots. In the alternate universe, the once agile Puss is now very fat, who can’t even turn around to lick himself!
With the givaway title as forever after, you do expect a happy ending, don’t you? Well, I would say this is a good way to say goodbye to our much loved characters. I heard Puss in Boots will get his own movie in 2011. So it’s not a final goodbye after all? Anyway, 3/5 stars for this fairy-tale gone wrong that everyone love.
